I have a question about my hens eggs...

I would look around for hitting eggs. My thought is a chicken it’s probably eating them. I had a problem with mine doing that and they didn’t leave a big mess they made sure they ate every bit of the insides and the shell. Or it could be an animal. I’ve heard of mice actually rolling eggs away into a hiding spot and stockpiling them. Or maybe a snake ? There are several animals that will eat eggs. What is the largest openings you have to the Coop
I will show you pictures of my coop and run in a little bit. I have to go get pictures of it. I guess my chickens could have eaten there eggs as a possibility but they have never done that before. As far as snakes and mice those are a pretty good possibility even though I haven't had problems with those

That’s the problem with things like mice and snakes usually don’t see them when your first wondering where they went. I never had a problem with mine eating their eggs till all the sudden one decided she try it out and then realized that those eggs are delicious. And I will have to agree those are very delicious eggs but there for us to eat. LOL

Ok well I will have to see if anything happens to the eggs in the nesting box now and let y'all know. I will also get some pictures of my coop and run

This just happened to me with hatching eggs. I'm pretty sure I know what happened with mine. As the eggs sat there day after day with hens coming and going from the box, one would eventually get a crack, once it broke open, the hens ate the broken egg and the shell... not a trace of evidence was left. Just missing eggs!
So, I eventually saw an egg with a crack one day, and was in a hurry and left it (before I figured out the problem) and after I had a chance to research a fix (it was a fertile hatching egg, I didn't want the baby to die) I went down to fetch the cracked egg to melt wax over the crack. I reached under one of my broody hens and found it, but by now, it was broken open completely with a dead baby chick inside. Terribly sad! I fixed up a broody box away from everyone else and put my only tried and true broody in the box with the rest of the hatching eggs, but by now, yet another had a crack. I sealed the crack with wax from a candle I melted over it. That was last Thursday, July 26. This morning, one egg hatched but I'm still waiting on the cracked/waxed egg. Fingers crossed.

Best guess, the more eggs in the nest, the more likely a broken egg. Plus over time, birds climbing over them to get in and out, just increases the odds. Could the shells be a little fragile? Maybe add oyster shell?

If one of your chickens is getting older it could be she’s not laying much anymore But with such few eggs over that course of time I don’t think that is the case.

Check the air cells on the 3 eggs you found. With the summer heat, those air cells would have certainly grown in a weeks time, if they were the original 3.

Look for hidden nest. Look for possibility of a snake eating the eggs, or a rat. Rats have been known to roll an egg out of the nest and to their tunnel. A snake will eat eggs without a trace.

IMO, it's not possible for hens to eat a week's worth of eggs without leaving some yolk or shell debris behind. Check UNDER the bedding in the nest. If they've been eating eggs, while there may not be any discernible goo at the top, the bottom of the bedding might have accumulated yolk/albumen which would have dried and glued the bedding to the bottom of the nest.

That is true. When I found out my chicken was eating the eggs I found no debris left over Shell I’m nothing but after looking at the egg hard enough I could see a certain sheen on it. Looks like we’re maybe some of the clear part got on the egg and dried.

But what you’re doing now is a good idea. Just keep checking to see how many eggs you have early in the day or when you believe they’ve stopped playing for the day and then check how many at the end of the day

Thanks for ya'lls input I will definitely do what ya'll told me and ill keep you updated on what I figure out
