We received 2 polish crested chicks from a BYC member. Now they are about 10 weeks old. One is a male , he has the red wattles and the spiky crest and crows. Well today I noticed that the "female" is crowing as well. She has very small wattles and the mushroom shaped crest as a female is supposed to. Is is common for a hen to imitate a roo if the have been housed together for a while? her crow is not as strong or long winded as his. thanks for any answers. -Bill

They are still young, and some breeds can make you crazy trying to figure out for sure which gender they are.

Girl chicks do sometimes crow, or making a 'trilling' sort of noise too...

Can you post pics?

You probably have two roosters, one is just more developed than the other.

I have never seen a pullet imitate a rooster. I have heard of dominant hens crowing when there is no rooster, but not this.
