So I have a chicken that was suppose to be a she but is actually a she(o got pullets from the farm store but obviously something went haywire) he's not crowing yet which is one reason I just thought that I had a larger hen on my hands but I've been told that it depends on the rooster on when he crows. But what else do I need to know? I can't afford a different feed specifically for him I know other rooster owners and theirs does fine with layer. But is there anything else I should know about my rooster do you need to care or provide something different for just him?

Roosters eat whatever everyone else is having. They aren't picky.

Roosters are a nice addition to any flock. They're pretty, entertaining, and they're smart, too. Between age five months and a year, they can sometimes get "attitude", but usually a little discipline will keep them in line.

You will probably be very happy you have a rooster.
