I have a single chick and i cant afford another one

Nah, she was either scared off by all the nay sayers, or she was being dishonest and felt weird about people calling her out. Which one? The world may never know.

I personally think the former, though.
Probably scared off.
She had some unfriendly reactions in this thread. Even if the reactions were meant well I can imagine she preferred not to react anymore.
I checked her new threads. Looks sincere to me with a another question about chick behaviour.

I dont think "scared" is the right word at all. Some people had very real concerns, others gave support, and others did both. She had every opportunity to prove everyone wrong. And within this thread, and the others, there have been no photos- we aren't just looking out for the chicks, but for her as well. Raising a single chicken would be incredibly challenging, exhausting, and could end in heartbreak.
And again, it isn't just a matter of "well, I guess it's done now" if she is going to make the same mistake with something else. And I only believe she would based on what she has said to me.
I very much want to be wrong, I am pretty sure everyone on this thread with these concerns wanted to be wrong- and now I guess we'll never know.

Not everyone is willing to post photos on the internet. Yes, I know that many people do post photos, and that photos can be very helpful in many cases.

But posting photos doesn't prove much about whether the person really owns the chicks they are talking about. I remember at least one troll who was taking photos off the internet and asking advice about chickens living in awful conditions, that they said they owned (there were quite a few photos, from a bunch of different internet sites, so that one was pretty obvious once someone started searching.)

I don't think photos would prove much about whether OP is telling the truth.
Yes, photos would enable people to give advice about brooder conditions-- but if OP does not want that advice, and if the current setup appears to be working well enough, then it is not really needed.

I read the whole progression, and I never once thought this person was lying. Some of her responses made it very clear that honesty is very important to her. She didn't even want to put a mirror in with the original chick because she felt like that would be lying to the chick.

As far as I know Cal ranch might sell single chicks because they don't have to worry about the chicks chilling in the climate that those stores serve. Maybe someone from there could speak to that.

I feel a little sad. Almost everyone was just concerned, but a couple people sounded really mean when I read their post. That can be crushing to a young person. This was just a resourceful teen who was asking for help. I think we could have been more supportive rather than condemning.

that is a good point and I did consider that, but it would still have helped, brooder conditions was one thing I would have been interested to see. And it would've been helpful so that we could give advice and even sex the chicks, which was one concern that could have been figured out.
But I do understand that photos don't give absolute certainty of ownership, and that's a crazy story about the chicken owner troll! Wow

I think most people, especially young people, are willing to share photos, unless they are unable to due to device, technicalities or simply not knowing how. But I think most people are fair in this situation, and most people approached with "if you can, photos would be helpful" "please share photos when you can" etc. Only a couple people were being forceful
