I have a chick who is not doing well, so I have taken my eye off the ball, so to speak.
Tonight, I sat down, took a deep breath, and then looked at my Black Lavender Split Orpington and thought...you look like a boy.

Tell me I'm wrong. Please.

I’d say it’s too early to know with Orpingtons! I have two lavenders that have had a small comb and started wattles for about 6 weeks now, and they are 10 weeks old. The color has so far stayed pink, but one is just now changing color a bit more and looking like a cockerel. I’d say keep an eye on the color as it ages the next month or so
