Hello everyone
For the past 3 days I have noticed that one of my hens egg is always smashed and eaten.
Today the egg was eaten a couple minutes after it was layed and I’m not fast enough to go and get it.
What do I do?
How do I stop it from happening again?
Thank you for the help😊

Try putting a few fake eggs or golf balls in the nesting boxes. That way when she goes to smash and eat them she can't. It will deter her from doing it next time.

Fake eggs can help.... but.....
Was the shell good and hard, or thin or soft?
What all and how exactly are you feeding?
How many birds(of what ages) in how big a coop/run?

I have a flock of 4 hens and a rooster.

They are getting laying pellets and have oysters shells available all time, they do get mealworm treats but I have tried to cut them a more out of their diet,so they only get mealworms now occasionally.

The shell was a little softer than usual.
The hens are a little over a year old except for one hen who is really old but she doesn’t eat eggs😊
They have the option to free range so they have quite a bit of space most of the time😊
