Thanks Zoomia. I thought the bird was pretty as heck. Just another ground scratcher to entertain my Dad. He really loves getting that assortment and raising them and guessing what they are as they mature. I assume since they come from the hatchery that its a purebred something and not a cross.

Maybe you could look and see what rare breeds they sell? That might give you a better idea. I tried looking but there was more than one rare package.

don't know for your breed but it is inconsistant... definatly a roo if you didn't know already. May not be good on the color but might still be a nice roo.

He isn't into showing or anything so will enjoy him. I'm still stumped though as I definatley don't have a definitive answer as your right, very inconsistent. Maybe as he ages it will become more apparant.

To me, it looks like a badly laced, single combed SLW. I had a single combed Wyandotte. And rare to a hatchery doesnt really mean rare.... I know scads of folks whose "rare" extra chick was an EE cockerel.
