I have an incubator that has a candling thing already inside it so I don't need to open it. It holds up to 9 eggs. 8 eggs should hatch within 3 days, but 1 was just layed what seems to be 4 days ago. I know what lockdown is and don't open it until all the eggs have hatched but since they are all at different rates should I open it and get out chicks that are 1 hour old? Please help.
I didn't know that chickens lay clutches before sitting on them, so I only have 1 egg that came from the broody hen, other eggs came from my other hen. Since my silkies lay an egg every other day, every other day a chick will hatch from the incubator until all 9 have hatched. I know that opening an incubator is a practice that should not be taken lightly, as the humidity and temp fall can slow the egg growth. Any suggestions? Do I just take the little baby out really fast and into the brooder? Thanks for the help
