So I've posted this in a few places. I'm trying whatever I can to get these boys sold. I purchased a shipment of Delawares from a breeder in California. She's retiring now. Anyhow I have way too many cockerels and I will have around 13 culls. Only culls because I don't have the space. If I had more land I would keep 4-5 of them. They were mainly bred for weight. The males are around 4-6 lbs live weight around 12-13 weeks. Females are about 3+ live weight 12-13 weeks. The breeder also paid attention to the SOP and tried to stick as close as she could but weight was the primary goal. Some of these birds may be better quality for show type bird but may not necessarily be as heavy. I will be processing them if they don't find homes. The issue is that they are good quality birds and I hate to destroy good genetics. This breeder was in the business since 2011 and this line has been pure since then.
I'm doing as much as I can to get these boys into homes that will hopefully be used for breeding. I would love to see her work spread around since she is retiring. Finding Delawares at good weight is tough.
I am trying to sell them for $25 right now because these birds cost me a fortune and they cost a second fortune to feed. I am not making any profit on them at this price. They are just about 6 weeks old. Hatched 1/12/25. They are very friendly boys. They come and sit on me the second I am near them. Very good friendly babies. I hang out with them as much as I can in the day.
I am in Florida and I am hoping someone in this state will love these Delawares for breeding. Maybe someone has some females and would enjoy a big male for breeding (and flock protection).
