charcoal dark silver pied.jpg

A wonderful bird .... never seen before!
White eyes so perfect .... never seen before!

Peacock color - charcoal
pattern white eyes.
This peacock was born at Blue Ledge Farms Peafowl.

My questions .... Repeatable pattern ...?
what is the recipe ..?
Father, ... mother ...?

Richard's responses : ... repeatable with like stock.
Not something you’ll be able to recreate.
:hit:hit:hit

We don't take care of the color ... because it's the one that complicates everything! we only see the pattern!
For me the pattern is Dark silver pied!
- white bib.
- corner of the wings white .
- end of pants white.
- the tips of the wing feathers are white.

Like this one ... but in blue!

Me, I treat Dark silver pied as we treat Dark pied ... there are just white eyes in addition!

I believe ... my idea ...! :lau

This peacock is the result of the crossing of two patterns ... of the crossing of two Dark silver pied which increases the white eyes effect and which makes the pattern so perfect!
Dark pied X Dark pied = Dark pied.
Dark silver pied X Dark silver pied = Dark silver pied + lots of perfect white eyes.

What do you think ....:pop

Are there other birds in another color with a so perfect pattern .... any pictures?

Some say ...
Silver Pied Pattern = 1 white gene + 1 Pied gene + 2 white eyes genes.
I think ...
Silver Pied Pattern = 1 white gene + 1 silver pied gene.
... now we need to define the Silver Pied gene ... what is it!

The idea of having 1 WE gene you have a few white eyes and 2 WE genes and all eyes are white has never convinced me ... it's far from always true!

Pied pattern need 2 genes
- 1 white gene.
- 1 pied gene.
These two peacocks have the same pattern but do not have the same genes!

The white gene is the same ... standard!
A gene which makes that the color doesn't fix on all the feathers ... the matter of the beak and the legs.
But the Pied gene is different ... alleles but different!

And it is the same with the Silver Pied gene ... there are different types of Silver Pied genes!

GOAL l ...
Prove that a white peacock is genetically of another color!
We are going to work with the color Cameo ... 'sex-linked'color .

Cross male Cameo pied X female cameo pied.
25% of young peas are white.
Supposed Cameo with the white pattern.

Crossing of one of these white males with any peahen (not sex-linked) .... Bronze ... Montana ... etc ...

ALL YOUNG FEMALES WILL BE CAMEO SPLIT WHITE.

This would prove in a sort time that a white peacock are genetically of another color.
