I went past an old friend's house and she had gotten a new fridge and there was the box in her garage!! I called her and asked if I could have it, but her son had taken it down to his cardboard salvaging shop and I thought it was probably a goner, but he rescused it for me and now I have one to start getting ready for the babies I will be ordering in a week or so. I saw one on here the other day and it was perfect for baby chicks. I am ordering 26 so thought I better go ahead and get one that would be big enough for all of them over a 6 week period and not have to keep upgrading. I am so excited!!!!!!

I'm jealous! I'm making a larger cardboard brooder out of a bunch of boxes because the chicks are outgrowing the plastic tub.

A ready made one would have been much nicer.

Good for you for setting up your brooder ahead of time. Be sure you test it with the heat lamp for a couple of days to see if the area under the lamp will keep chicks at the proper temperature. I wrote an article on setting up a brooder that is on the website below. It may be helpful. Best of luck to you and your new baby chicks!
