Ok, so I’m really sad, I know.....but I’ve just been out to lock up for the night and found THIS

My Silkie hens were born on the 28th June last year. It’s been cold and snowing so I’ve given them warm porridge for breakfast LOL, and a few mealworms a day because there’s no bugs at the moment (they’re free range)
So so chuffed

Congrats!! I am pretty excited to be getting eggs in the Spring. My babies were born around Nov 13th and just turned 10 weeks. I am hoping with the daylight increasing and warmer weather coming soon.... that they'll lay close to 20 weeks. One can hope!

Enjoy your sweet egg!

Congrats! I got my first one a week after I got my rescue hens it was exciting ! Now I’m waiting on my chicks to start laying. They’re about 20 weeks now and I know it’s winter so who knows when it’ll happen

Yay! :clap Clever girl (whoever it was). Hopefully she'll start a trend!

I opened the door to the hatch to check they were ok (torch in hand) and usually they’re bunched together there, however they were at the ramp end all eying ‘the egg’ up suspiciously as if to say, ‘what IS that!!’ Haha

Thank you. I only have a trio so I won’t be selling eggs at market :) but I’m so pleased about this. It’s been very cold and has snowed too so maybe the warm porridge helped. That was a tip I got on this forum! :thumbsup
