My DH was kind enough to buy me some pullets several weeks ago. We know that five of them are RIR; we know that five of them are basic white chickens (IDK the name of the breed). One of them, however, isn't like the others. lol Anyway, my DD says things like she got ahold of a curling iron and she REALLY needs a flat iron, mom. Anyway, here are some pics. If you know what she is, DH said there's something wrong with her; I've been trying to convince him that she's a different breed; he asked what breed; IDK; please help.
Oh, they're about ten weeks old, give or take; IDK exactly how old they were when we got them and we've had them for about 6 or 7 weeks. We THINK they were ABOUT two weeks old when we got them, not sure.

This pic shows she has feathers on her feet (has since less than a week after we got her).

I thought this was a good side view; see how curly her feathers are and all the feathers on her feet?

This was the best top-shot I could get of her.

Thanks in advance. :-)

Thank you. DH will tell me that's a made-up name. lol But what is a sikie. Will there be any difference between her eggs and the others? Will she be able to fly (I mean with feathers like that...)? Is there ANYTHING I should know???
Thank you so much for replying (especially so quickly).

Thank you! :-) Good to know the whole name of the breed; that way DH can't tell me someone just made up a name for chickens whose feathers aren't right. lol

She's not a silky - she is a frizzle (refers to the feather pattern) her breed from your description is probably a cochin. Do a search for 'frizzles' on this site to show your husband that such birds do exist somewhere other than the imagination of old 'Sourland'.

A silky has smooth, soft almost hair like featherss, five toes on each foot and black skin.

Pricey? Really? I think we got her for less than the other ten BECAUSE she wasn't want we wanted. DH bought all the RIRs they had, but there were only five, so they threw her in at a discount. I don't think we have a rooster, so there'll be a lot of eggs, but probably no more chickens. Sorry; otherwise, I'd be happy for you to have one. :-)
