I have no idea what I am doing

I can get chicken starter that says its safe for ducklings and geese from the tractor supply store along with waterer and feeders, I need to add niacin though??? How much? And yes my porch is fully enclosed.

If that is DuMor brand, no, it isn't sufficient alone for ducklings... you would have to add brewers yeast or Niacin to supplement... ask for Purina Flock Raiser crumbles, TSC's usually carry it... that is sufficient by itself, but getting some brewers yeast or PLAIN Niacin tablets from grocery store just in case is a good idea... a medium sized sour cream or cottage cheese tub with a notch cut out on one side of the lid just bigger than his head works fine for water for now...

Not sure on breed, I think could be Muscovy, but need to see front view of face to tell better... Muscovies have a face mask that as ducklings makes a thick line around the base of their bill all around...

He looks to be about a week old, pin feathers look like they are starting in his tail...

He is hiding his head because he is terrified... this is normal in a wild, broody raised duckling of that age... slow movements, talk softly, and try to always bring your hand down in front of him and come up from below when picking him up... hands coming directly down towards him will trigger flight from predator response...

Not sure this is where I should post this but I need some help!!! I just rescued a baby duck from my apartment parking lot, I walked around carrying the crying thing while looking around for the mom but it was all alone. So I took it in. I am thinking it's a mascovy duck because that's what I'm seeing around me. I have no clue what age or sex the thing is or what I should be feeding it. It's a little scared but will take a nap in my hands, it also keeps trying to hide it's head? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!View attachment 1038387 View attachment 1038388

@Miss Lydia do you think Muscovy?

It is the Dumor brand, I have like pizza dough yeast but I dont think thats what you are talking about probably. I got a waterer and a shallow dish for the food. He is a little more calm today, is there any good ideas for what to keep him in? I have a plastic bin but it seems way too small.

Nutritional yeast, available in bulk bins at many grocery stores, failing that a health food store. I give a bit to my small dogs on top of their food daily. A regular largish plastic tote should be fine for the moment I would think. A sprinkle of say a tsp of the yeast on top of the food. You are doing great. Sounds like he is feeling safer.

I thought he's Muscovy but I'm not so sure

No, not baking yeast... this is one you can use...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000...wers+yeast&dpPl=1&dpID=51cmp6fslGL&ref=plSrch

Put 1 TBLSPN per cup of feed mixed in...

But if I were you, I would just see if Purina Flock Raiser is available for you... the other thing witb DuMor that I noticed is it smells more and makes their poop stink way worse...

Tote is just fine and he does look like a Muscovy...

That brand of food wasn't there :-/ he doesn't seem to know that his food is good....

It may take him a while, he is wild and has never even seen 'processed feed' before... I would order the yeast from the link then, it has multiple size tubs available so you can just get a small one...
