I have no idea what I am doing

When can we take lucky outside on a nice warm day for a little run around the yard to play? He was only one week old as of Wednesday but he likes to run around the house and I thought it would be nice if we could take him outside for some fresh air for a limited amount of time
Today? If momma duck had him he'd be out already!

(Can't wait for the outside videos.)

But biophiliac, don't forget, it's a bit different when they have mama duck as a walking heat source, oil spreader, etc... ;)

Just let Lucky guide you... if he's running around, peeps but not nonstop, he's fine... if he stops, hunches up, looks fuzzier, shivers, then he needs to be warmed up... if his bill gets cold along with his webs, pick him up and hold him in your hands til he warms up again...

I think they will be alert if he needs a warm up? Steven - day old chicks run around in cold temps and then scoot back under mamma hen to warm up. Just be aware.:D

If you take him out and try to walk away from him, he will run so fast to follow! It's amazing. And please let him swim again. I know it scares you when he dives. I don't think you can get a sense of their drive to follow the parent indoors.

Now?

Is it ok if he start nibbling on grass and weeds?

Oh how I would love to see Lucky run around the back yard. We will definately be watching. I think he will run like a crazy duck!

Not sure if my post went through but I wanted to know if it's ok if he nibbles on grass etc because I'm sure he will
Like @Ravynscroft said a few rains will wash away the fertilizer you mentioned. I can't imagine a bit of grass will hurt him. He'll probly be too busy following you to eat very much. Don't let him eat any foreign object like screws, plastic, etc. This wouldn't appear to be an issue in your lovely yard.
