I have no idea what I am doing

Congrats on the duckling!!!

:hugs for the lost one, and please do not blame yourself... sounds like it never developed correctly so not a thing you could have done to save it... :fl for lots more!!
Thank so much... I did realize that if it did survive i would have most likely had to put it down.....

I quickly snapped a photo of the thing in it'so nest you can't really see it but I really don't want to take the mom off of it for long so here you go...

Awe so happy you have something to celebrate. I'm hoping there will be more celebrating ahead.

Well... This is it, The moment i've been waiting for right?
I just got back from shopping and went straight for the ducks...

I slightly lifted the chicken above the nest to see egg #8 (the twin egg) competently spit open.. and flattened with one.. dead deformed chick in it. I heart literally had broken and fell to the bottom of my chest when i saw the poor thing... It's organs seemed to be out of the duck's chest and it's feet were deformed so badly it could open up.. It was also covered with this thick green bugger like slime...
I took the duck and disposed of it along with the egg.. I was so sad and mad at the same time at myself thinking i helped it to much! I went back to check on egg #3 which is still trying to get through.. Kiwi was of course out of her nest making the moma hen freak out.

I felt my heart skip a beat when i heard pipping from under her. Thinking it was egg #3 i held it to my ear and began making peeping noise but it didnt respond.. Instead something under the chicken did...
So thinking 'one of the other eggs are hatch' are gently remove the hen out of the nest...i couldn't believe my eyes! this tiny..Tiny little duckling covered in the same buggery slime was laying in the nest making raspy little chirping sounds~! I put the hen right back on the duckling screaming with joy in my head..felt a little light headed for a moment even.
i ran back to my house, hopped into my little chair, turned on my computer and went straight for BYC~!

My hands are still trembling frm the excitement i wouldn't be surprised of there were tons of typos...!

i really do feel like going out side and screaming my head off with joy :wee:celebrate:celebrate:yesss:

I Really want to thank you guys for all the support you've given me~! I'll try and get some photos of the little guy ASAP! I just cant stand the excitement I really need to calm down first....:woot :ya :smackAlright... i think im good now :lau

I'll try and get some good photos from my phone as soon as i can!:lol:

OMG! How exciting and rare! :ya:clap:clap

Thank you all so much! :D I'm very happy as well for this little miracle on our little hobby farm! I'm trying not to get to attached to the duckling though.... theres still a Very big chance shes/hes not going to make it... She/he is still making those horrible raspy noises and she/he wont even open her/his eyes yet... I'm praying she'll\he'll make it through the night :fl As for now im trying my best to leave it alone.

But for now i think im going to take a break from the computer...I'll tell ya'll how the lil' feller is doing tomorrow.

Good job... if you see anymore hatch with that awful hatching goo, go ahead and quickly clear it away from them and get it out of the nest... :)

Sorry about the loss of the one. But unfortunately it doesn't sound like it had much hope to start with. Certainly nothing you done wrong! Stuff just happens. Good luck not getting attached. . easier said than done! Especially when you spend so much time worrying and waiting. When you finally see the sweet little thing your heart just melts!

My lil' survivor looked like she/he wouldnt make thet night but shes a fighter! :woot
Check on it the morning still a bit clumsy but all fluffed out an adorable! She/he has a beautiful bright yellow ring around it's neck and shes/hes a little but more gray then the other duckling, Very beautiful. Moma tried teaching her to eat but all she wanted to do was snuggle up under her :D Kiwi has been showing it around the place and grooming her/him.. They're both so adorable I really need a him for the twin duck so i can stop calling it she/he
