I have some questions about Leghorn chickens!

My leghorn is very chatty, she's the first to greet me and follow me around. I love her. Sometimes she lets me pick her up, other times she doesn't. She's the only leghorn in the flock. I didn't pick her up at all as a chick though... once she was getting ready to lay eggs is when she let me pick her up.

Thanks! Steven! Good news for a change! Even my aracauna flies the coop once in a while. Their breed isn't especially docile either, and she walks up to me wanting to be petted! But do you think since Diamond and Blossom's dad was a rhodie, they have a better chance of not getting such a huge comb?

Thanks, Erin

I have three Leghorn X growers. Their dad was a Marsh Daisy with a rose comb, but with the recessive gene for single comb. All three chicks are pullets with single combs, and the combs are fairly huge. At first I thought they were probably all boys... My pure Leghorns are flighty and skittish, definitely don't like being handled, great foragers, hardy birds, economical eaters and great layers of huge eggs. So far the chicks are proving to be much more friendly, but still not keen on being handled.
