For those who have watched my previous YouTube video, you may be wondering what happened to my ladies after the mini cyclone and that bloody event in the coop where a cuckoo maran hurt its claw.
For those who don't know, I'm a new chicken mama, got my chickens at about a month old in October 2020 and still learning how to feed and care for my flock. So far I may be doing it right since they are thriving, survived two natural events and are continuing to lay eggs since they started in January.
Here's a link in YouTube showing how they survived the arctic blast.
Let me know how I can do it better. I know we need to build a better coop that will not be blown away by a gust of wind, nor will get wet from the rain, plus a chicken run so they can run around, forage from a bigger place and at the same time, remain safe from predators. I do have a question-- I noticed that they don't like laying mash as it is, it doesn't look appetizing- what else can I get them as feed when spring starts because cracked corn with DDG has a very high protein content and they won't be needing it when it starts to warm up.
Thank you for your comments!
