Silkies are actually very gorgeose birds. If you get a good quality or even show quality then what you think about them would change.

By the looks of them you bought some regular ole silkie eggs. I can even see the quality isnt good. More like pet quality. But honestly it isnt just the looks. Its the temperment of the bird its self that makes the difference. But if you were looking for true 'eyecandy' then you really have to look for good breeders. Stuff from the Hatchery 'is what you get and what you payed for'

Like I said. I will love them all no matter how "ugly" they are. And I have had a few dooseys. I never was into the nonbearded variety. But I fell in love with them. In my opinion they were the prettiest(as soon as I got use to the idea, because they were different)

Awwww, rinnith, I think we should all gather up feathers to send those babies!!!

Actually, stephy....I don't think Silkies are ugly. I think they are gorgeous. And I think my Alice is gorgeous, pet quality or not. She is soft, and fluffy, and sooooo sweet.

I wasn't looking for super quality, I was looking for a cute little cottonball (or well, my kid was). However, poor little Kramer goes far beyond being "pet quality" all the way down to....OMG that's UGLY.

I have some lavender Silkie chicks too and you're right...they are UGLY! I hope their feathers catch up with their bodies! Here's a pic of my Frizzle roo "Baldy" at 8 weeks:

But isn't he handsome now:

OMGosh, your Baldie is AMAZINGLY like my sizzle Phoenix (formerly known as Fiona). They could be brothers!!!!! I'll post pics later, after I pick up my kids from school. He was half bald like that before his feathers came in, then those buff feathers came through as he got older.
