Does anyone else get that heart warming feeling when cuddling a chick or chicken? Like that feels good for your soul kind of feeling? I am head over heels for my little Silkie babies; they’re the best cuddlers by far. They’re so soft and little and ready to snuggle up under your bosom like you’re their true blue momma. But I have a black sex link with the most soulful eyes I’ve ever seen on a chick and she’s been pulling at my heart extra hard now as well. She just recently started to want to come out of the brooder with me and during our ‘me’ time tonight she just looked so happy. She’s still a little timid at first when she comes out but when she settled into my lap this evening she got all drowsy and sort of half closed her eyes; it almost looked like she was smiling! She clicked her beak a few times and then dozed right off. It warmed my heart to see her so content and see her trust in me.

I’m sorry if this isn’t necessarily in the right place, but I just needed to get these warm and fuzzy feelings wrote down somewhere. My husband enjoys my love for my babies, but he doesn’t feel for them like I do, so I had to share this somewhere to keep all the love from smothering me in my blissful chicken happiness. :) Happy rant over I suppose.

I'm right there with you. I pick up my little ones and hold them right to my cheek and and they fall asleep

Jinxie is my one eyed buff brahma roo who gets picked on
Hes a little jumpy as he was attacked by a raccoon last fall watched all the rest of the flock that was on the same side of of the coop get killed by the racoon except my other bantam roo

So I am always picking him up give him some love he puts his head on my cheek while I rub his cheeks and he falls asleep
I know he feels safe when I hold up so it gives me that fuzzy feeling too

But all my chickens and ducks make my heart happy I sit out with them while they all come over and have talks with me or sit on me

So you are not alone

If I could ‘love’ your post I would, but I guess a ‘like’ will have to suffice.

I’m glad to know I’m not alone in this. A lot would probably think “it’s a just a chicken, not a dog or anything”, but I believe that they like to be loved too and know that they’re safe. :)
