Just had to share this photo of my doxie looking into the bator...yours are soooo cute!!

Stormy the black one is a real motherly type. She rolls over on her back like she wants to nurse them.

I don't trust mine with the chicks, but she is great with the older chickens. In fact...she's terrified of our white silkie roo. He chases her around if she gets too close to his "woman". Today I looked around and she wasn't near me like usual. She was up on the back porch staying away from the silkie roo.

She's like, "That thing will poke your eye out".

All dogs seem to be very interested in the eggs and chicks.

Although some have different reasons for being interested:

#1. They are motherly.

#2. They are hungry.

#3. They want friends.

Any more ideas???

I have 3 dogs, the 2 doxies and a golden retriever. They are great with the chickens. My golden has taken the job of chicken guard.

I have 2 dogs. the spaniel I don't trust with chicks (that kind is used for game bird hunting). but she guards my kittens and some times will shoo the mom off (i think she wants to b mom).
my boxer hates cats and when she finds a chickens egg she will swalow it hole and spit it out in the yard!?

Just called my DH. I have 2 hatched and 3 more pips. Yeah!
