Sitting here on BYC when I heard a noise coming form the spare bedroom. Went in to chick on the brooders (5 of them). There standing and looking like a total man was my granddaughters little 7 week old buff silkie crowing to beat the band. It was so cute. I stood and watched him for a few minutes and he crowed several more times. I know silkies are hard to sex but do they crow this early. I went back and checked the breeders birth records she gave us an he was hatched on May 15. My son in law had better get on the stick and build granddaughter her silkie coop. Don't know if DH will think its cute to have a cockerel crowing in the house.

That's cute! I loved hearing the first crows from my boys. And they each have a different sounding crow. There is one in the neighborhood(pretty sure it isn't mine) that sounds like tarzan. It cracks me up every time I hear it. My SS makes me think of a circus performer rather than a rooster. My two banties are just too adorable for words in their tiny 'big bird' voices. And my EE has perfect tone and is actually not bad to listen to. Though, some of my friends would disagree(they are the ones who don't have chickens). Anyway, congrats on the first crow; and I hope he has a place to call his own soon - so no one in the house fries him up for breakfast.
