Last night I heard a really weird noise! I was in my bathroom getting ready for bed and I heard some loud, high-pitched squawking sounds in our backyard!

At first I thought it was our neighbor's little dog being attacked by something, because it sounded like there were two of them. Then it sounded more like two parrots squawking loudly at each other. It lasted like 5-10 seconds, then stopped.

I did some research and found that it may have been a fisher cat or a red fox.

(Luckily, this is at my mom's house and the chicken's are at my dad's house...)

Any thoughts? It didn't quite sound like a fisher cat...was more high pitched.

Ahhhh!! We have that around here occasionally. The first time I heard it I thought it sounded like someone dragging a woman down the street by her hair. It was screechier the other times I heard it, but it'll stop your blood! It's a fox- there are some sites where you can hear a recording of it.

Make sure your girls are locked up tight!!!

Yeah that's what I thought it was; a fox. Again, luckily I heard it at my mom's house, and the chickens are at my dad's house. we don't have any chickens at my mom's house, so no worries about the fox harming our chickens.

Screech owl maybe?? That sounds ALOT like a woman being dragged by her hair! Better still for scary sounds is a screech owl catching a rabbit!! Whew! Sounds like some one being killed for sure!

Come to think of it, some one is being killed!

Yeah that may be it. I'm going to look up screech owl sounds...

I don't think it was an owl.

But I remembered that a few days ago I had seen two little hawks. Not sure what kind. One was perched in a fairly small tree and it flew right over me. So I looked up hawk sounds and one sounded almost just like the sound I heard last night; but it didn't say what kind of hawk it was. It just said, "Audio of a hawk sound".
