I heard hens in Mexico need rooster to lay eggs!?

since the chickens aren't fed layer feed like here in the states they have to have a rooster to be able to lay eggs

You'd certainly get less eggs if you didn't meet the nutritional needs of the animal. Same with any animal though. Need to be at least somewhat healthy to ovulate.

Did your friend say WHAT they need the rooster for? Perhaps they're eating him.

Pinatas, pinatas that's what they need. It has nothing to do with latitude. The jumping up and down as they swing at the pinatas causes the eggs to move along the oviduct. Doesn't everyone know that? Oh yes, mariachi music too.

I had a co-worker argue with me aggresivley that her boyfriends hen hatched an egg & they have NO rooster (they do not free-range) . There is NO need for a rooster to hatch an egg! I think she missed that day in Sex-Ed!
