I've got 3 girls that have been laying about 3 weeks - White Leghorn & Tetra Tint. They are so quiet, you'd never guess they were thinking of laying an egg. Well, yesterday we got our first tiny egg from a bantam girl (OEGB) and today she's "singing" all over the yard. It is priceless and she is LOUD too! She finally pranced into the coop, so I am hoping I'll find another present soon!!

Congrats! Oh and how old was your White Leghorn when it first started laying? Was its comp big and floppy? Just want to get an idea on when mine will lay, their both 16 weeks...

Both leghorns and my tetra tints were 17 weeks old when they started laying. I thought they had big red combs, but they were not floppy. We left for vacation on July 1, they started laying around July 4th, and when we got home from vacation on July 9th - their combs were all flopped over. It was so funny to see, but I guess what that means is that I really don't know when their combs flopped vs. egg laying.

My little girls are the same age as the big girls - so they didn't start laying until 21 weeks old.

We got our first egg yesterday and 2 more today but I haven't much idea which of the older 2 (or perhaps the sex link) that did it!! I have a RIR that is nearly 25 weeks old and a Golden Comet that is 23 weeks old. The sex link is 21 weeks (along with 2 barred rocks and an easter egger). I'm suspecting it's the RIR doing the laying but the comet has been particularly weird lately too. The eggs today are 2 different sizes as well. The one yesterday and one of the 2 today are the same size (kind of small like golf ball-ish size).

Of course, I just bought 2 1/2 dozen eggs at the grocery store yesterday.
