I helped a new chick hatch last night because it pipped and then didn't do anything else. I could see it moving in there and was afraid it would die. I am not incubating, it was under a hen. I've had chicks die before that way so I panicked. Well, the baby is alive, but not walking. This was last night and it is still having a hard time. The legs look fine. Should I give more time? It has been more than 12 hours. Any help would be appreciated as I feel terrible about the whole thing.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have any nutri drench on hand? If not, it could be very helpful for chicks who are not thriving. If you decide to give it some, just gently put one drop on the side of the beak where it will roll into the mouth. After that, do the same thing with fresh water a few times. I’m rooting for this baby! Don’t blame yourself. You were just trying to help.

I am sorry I did not respond sooner. The little one actually made it and got much better. Did give it say-a-chick. Ended up dying and I'm not really sure why. I think someone smothered her. :( Thanks for helping everyone!
