I helped, now HELP!

So, we've had 26 ckicks hatch without a hitch of any kind. Then there is this one left. Comical, head kind of half way sticking out of a hole. I even took pictures this morning, as it is sort of what you see sometimes in comics - however I had never seen a chick hatching look like that. She was stuck in there a very long time, or so it seemed. For those of you who want to know how long.... longer than the others. I wasn't timing all of them. So I thought, long enough, and I helped her out. It seemed like she was sort of sideways in the egg, as the air sac was on the large end, and also extended down the side of the egg.

Anyway, she has been in the incubator by herself for about 10 hours, breathing, but not walking around.

ALL other chicks have chirpped very loudly. She has barely made a sound. In fact, I think she said more while inside the egg.

Is there anything that I can do to help? Or is it just going to make it worse, me trying to help again.

Of all things, she was the only egg of her variety. We really hope she survives.

If it's a membrane problem, wet the membrane with warm water to loosen it up. Maybe she's dried to it?

If this helps... ide say the shell was either too thin and the chick got out too fast or it was to thick and the chick is completly worn out.

Ide suggest making sure the chick is hydrated and hope for the best.

Its been a long time since I had baby birds and their mothers took care of them for the most part.

I had a chick come out of an egg and was so exhausted and literally floppy if you rolled it in your hand, I was going to just cull it. Well... I gave it some more time and what did you know, about 36 hours after hatching, it peeped up a storm and wanted to be out. It did just fine.

I'd give yours another day at least before doing more. You can try dipping its beak into water, but if too weak or tired to swallow, you'd risk drowining it. Hope chickie does well!

In the night I woke up and had a feeling that the chick was gone. This morning I found that she had expired at night.

I think I helped it too much, as it was never actually struggleing to get out. It just kept breathing like it was tired. Although at first it did seem to try and walk around and such.

I also tried giving it water, and it did sort of gag, so maybe I did drown it. That was last night around 9 pm, and I didn't know about drowning it.

I learned a lesson. Dont try and help out a chick unless you see her trying to get out. I think that she was content to sit in her shell until she was ready, and I made her a "premie."
