Hello, Hello! We are not new to raising chickens, but we sadly lost most of our chickens in 2018 due to a large fire in our area. After relocating (within the same town) we started up a new flock, some for our own benefit and some to sell as layers. I figure knowledge is power and I am not an expert, so I look forward to insight, learning and helps!!

Currently we have 26 chickens, however 12 of them are "sold" as soon as they start laying - which honestly should be any minute! We are super excited for farm fresh eggs! We have, Rhode Island Reds (9), Barred Rocks (9), Delaware (3), Buff Orpingtons (2), Golden laced Wyandotts (3). We will keep the Wyandotts, The Delawares, The Buff Orpingtons and one of the Rhode Islands.

Our favorite part of raising chickens is the fact that they are little garbage disposals (food waste) and the eggs. Farm fresh eggs are soooo much better than store bought. When we relocated, we did so back onto my husbands childhood property and we have 12 acres of space. 4 acres is orchard, one acre is a garden and then we have weeds for days. Our birds love it! We also have branched out into American Black belly sheep and New Zealand meat rabbits. This year has been full of projects and prep, but hey, we've needed something to keep us busy.

My family and I live in Northern California. My husband and I have been married almost 21 years. We have three amazing children, 2 daughters, 20 yrs. and 15 yrs. and a son who is 18. We have lived in our small town our whole lives and even after a devastating fire, we can't seem to tear ourselves away. We own 12 acres, with 8 additional family owned acres across the street. My husband works in Law Enforcement and I run a front office. Our son plans on being a live stock veterinarian and one of our daughters wants to be a nurse. The other is undecided. We love to work in the yard and we have a new passion with our little homestead. We have 2 dogs, Kira and Milo. Kira is a black lab mix who loves to play and will fetch a ball for days! Milo is my Jack-Russell terrier/chihuahua mix, I call him my chihuahua on stilts. Currently have 4 American black belly sheep, Apollo (our ram), Braveheart (my sweet little ewe), Mocha and Stella. We also have 6 New Zealand rabbits, Trump 2020 (a blue buck - my husband named...), Wade (a blue buck), Lucy (black doe), Dixie (blue doe), Blue Bell (blue doe) and a brand new member of our rabbitry who is unnamed at the moment, but he is a broken black buck. We just welcomed our very first liter of kits from Trump 2020 and Lucy. She delivered 7 very healthy, active and adorable kits. Those kits are actually how I found this site, because I have some that are an unusual color and I was trying to find out more about the coloring. The breeder that I purchased Trump from directed me to your site and a forum that discussed the coloring of another liter of kits. I am excited to be here and hope to learn and share much!
