leave the chicken wire at the farm store and get 1/2 inch hardware cloth instead. they call it chicken wire because it keeps chickens in, not predators out.
dig a trench around the outside wall of your chicken coop and bury hardware cloth a couple feet down and under the siding up the wall a foot. this will keep things from digging in.
your chicken wire will rot away, hurt the chickens feet and still allow rodents in including a least weasel. see the below thread about weasels.
chain link fence is good against dogs and coyotes, providing it tall enough they cant jump it, but smaller critters can go thru it and climbers like raccoon go over it.
