I just bought a GQF Model 1602N/1611 COMBO THERMAL AIR FLOW HOVABATOR INCUBATOR WITH AUTO EGG TURNER . So what do you think?

It's brand new. I really want to get into selling different breeds of chickens and good quality. I want to help 4-H kids to be exposed to more than White Leghorns and Cinnamon Queens. They are great chickens but I think they would enjoy different breeds that have different personalities. Do that make sense?

Of course, I'm addicted to hatching chickens too.

Hi Jackie! Congratulations on your new incubator!

I have a Hova with a wafer-type thermostat, does your model have a wafer or electronic t'stat? I'm thinking of changing mine over.
I only use it for hatching Button Quail --- it has higher sides than my LG's and the Button hatchlings aren't so likely to run all over when I open it

Have you decided what breeds to start hatching? I agree, White Leghorns and Cinnamon Queens are kinda boring

I'm not sure what type of thermostat it has. It just gives me more room to hatch eggs. I have a LG now and I have my BIL LG but his doesn't have an egg turner so I'm going to use his for hatcher.

I have the same incubator and I have noticed that a couple of times the temp has gone up to 110 or 115. How do I keep the temp down to 100? It has the waffer thing in the top and it looks like there is some sort of thermometer that apparently is adjustable because it has arrows that say increase & decrease. Supposedly it was preset at the factory but I think it needs to be adjusted. Do I need a special tool to stick in the hole or just a small phillips or regular screwdriver? Can anyone help me out with this? I have 13 eggs in it that are supposed to hatch about Oct 6th.

Thank you,
ps... I'm going out to the shed to candle them now to see what I see.

Well I just got back from candling them and apparently I don't know what I'm looking for. (they just look like eggs to me so far) The temp was up to 115 again. I will check again in another half hour or so. I adjusted the gap in the waffer and the lid, I don't know if that will help/

Yeah... if your eggs even get to 106 they are toast... Check your temp with a thermometer made for humans and get that temp stabalized/fixed before you set any more eggs. Good luck. "factory preset" usually means "factory upset"

OHHHH I'm such an Idiot!!!!
I had the waffer biscuit thing in the hole in the center of the lid instead of in the hole where the thermostat is. After I put it where it is supposed to go and turned the handle on the waffer thing I could see that the thermostat came on or went off depending on which way I turned it.
Darn... so I guess my eggs my not make it now.

I will keep them in there just in case and see what happens.
Now I know......

Thanks for the help peeps
