I just flew in. And boy, is my alligator tired.

Thank you all for such an extremely warm welcome and all the well wishes!

Went to orientation for the new job yesterday, which went quick, but mostly because I was the only one there...no one else showed up.
I hope you got the job!

Wow. Was it a scheduling mistake?

It is just the way the world is right now. I have never seen this my entire career; people who accept a job and don't show up or call, people who work and their first day don't come back after lunch, etc. It is incredible.

I did get the job, but unfortunately was let go just after my third month mark.

I burned though all my sick days and flex time due to a very nasty bout of acute bronchitis (on top of having asthma) that I developed in late July, I was coughing so hard I ended up bruising my intercostal muscles all along most of my left side and at some point I managed to fracture a rib which earned me pleurisy.

Right now I'm dong much better, still have a bit of a cough and a wheeze, and still nursing the fracture and bruising, but I'm a million times better than I was a week ago.

Because I wasn't able to lie down due to the pain of the bruising and fracture, I was sleeping upright on the couch and pretty living on the couch with a heating pad to help with pain of my muscle bruising, but being sedentary for so long I ended up with edema.

Lying in bed is still a little tough, right now I'm up at 5am because I couldn't stop coughing and it was starting to irritate my brusing and fracture, so I grabbed the heating pad and made some tea to help with the couching...so here I sit on the couch.

I'm just glad to be able to get up and actually do things, the last month has been miserable.

I am so sorry. I hope you will be much, much better, very soon.
