I just got a dog at Wal-Mart

Good luck, I hope you find her owner! I know about being over run with critters!

The OP found a dog, she didn't buy one!

Thank God, we don't have anything like that at our WalMart. If we did, I'd call the store AND corporate, and tell them I was going to post a boycott request on my Facebook page and Angie's List. To be taken off when the guy left the premises and was gone for a month!

I HATE PUPPY MILLS!

I have friends who breed show dogs/family dogs. Their grump only have 1-2 litters per year, and they're usually spoken for before they're weaned. They wouldn't dream of selling their pups from their station wagon/van/truck in a parking lot, and they certainly wouldn't be there semi-permanently.

People who become accidental owners of puppies usually advertise, and want to observe the buyer to try to determine if they'll be caring.

I myself am a great fan of adopting pound puppies (and older dogs) and so my pets are always neutered.

So do you call the SPCA on people selling chickens or birds?

If I see someone sitting in a parking lot selling animals, especially when they appear to be underaged or undernourished, yes, I call the SPCA.

The vet had 2 #'s and they were both duds. I placed a "found ad that just said "describe."
I had a nasty time with some weirdos and an ad a few years ago. They called with several different people and changed their story based on info I gave about the dog. They were Beagle breeders and wanted her to breed. They even called a deputy friend and tried to bully me into handing her over- a 12 lb. dog with fear issues! I won.
Back to this dog. It turns out she isn't a Puggle, she's a Jug(Pug/ Jack Russel). And, since the owner hasn't claimed her, she's going to get a name and a check-up. Dog # 5. Oh well, It's been 6 years since I added to the pack. I guess that's not so bad. Now if I can just convince her that I don't need her to hop onto the back of the couch and guard the window.

She was alone, wandering from person to person and drinking from puddles. We don't have an ASPCA or humane society within 80 miles. There is a Charles Dickens type pound. I'd shoot a dog before I'd send it there ( that's what they do, anyway.) Our animal control will respond to accusations of neglect but it would have to be REALLY severe. They pretty much just want to make sure your animals aren't loose stinky or noisy.
