be picky about what ear cleaner you get first ear cleaner i got for my cockers my vet gave me a look of "oh no" and i said "what?" (he's a really down to earth vet) and he goes "that has alcohol in it...very painful to them, i suggest blah blah blah".
So i quit using that kind cold turkey...i had wondered why my dogs kept flinching wheni put it in! Poor guys! Wish they could talk and say "HEY YOU IDIOT THAT STINGS!"
I now am using Dr. Jeff Werbers Performance Formula for cats and dogs- gentel ear cleaner. I was also using an ear drying powder after it but my vet said this was unnecc and just adds more clutter to the dogs ears so I barely use it unless the ears still seem too wet to me after cleaning.
If the ears look dirty, it's more than likely earmites...so just because you dont think it's ear mites doesnt mean it's not. Vet time.
