I just got three Barnevelder chicks!

I have wanted to get Barnies for a while.. I started keeping chickens last year and have three nice laying hens, two Australorps and one large Buff Orp. I found a lady within 5 miles of me selling Barnies and paid $15 apiece (!) for three 5 week olds. I know they are a bit rare, but that's a lot! They seem very healthy and have great plumage. I hope they lay dark eggs!

I haven't formally named them, but my 7 year old grandson suggests "Whitey, Eagle and Hawk."
