The good news is these well adjusted birds didn't seem to mind too much. Well after the fact that is. while I was squirting them ( like shooting fish in a barrel) they ran like heck. I used the sprayer to herd them under the patio cover and by the time time I had turned off the hose they were preening. No visible signs of any stress. The only noticeable difference was that they had stopped panting.

I was worried about the effects of stress but from what I see now i think I'll water the birds from time to time.

Oh I get mine hang them upside by their feet and spray down into the feathers otherwise the water on mine just rolls off unless they are silkies otherwise they run so far I can never seem to spray them.

Yeah, kind of the same idea as my dogs loving to hang their head out of the car window, stand in front of a fan or air conditioner, but turn the blow drier on them and all h*ll breaks loose!

OK I'll have to reconsider this one. I whipped out the sprayer and off they ran and my Pepper (light brahma) ran into the side of the house at full speed!!! Not good! She made a sound I have yet to hear for a few minutes.

She seems ok now but I have to reconsider the sprayer because I'm not about to herd my birds into stucco at top speed everyday.
