I just killed my first one to eat. Ive killed a couple that were injured before, but this is the first one that I killed that was perfectly fine and with intent to eat. I feel nauseous. I havent yet plucked him or anything. Getting ready to do that now. Im not hungry anymore.

Awww I'm so glad that my mom is moving here from Texas! She's promised to be my roo dispatcher. I understand. It's not a pleasant task.

Get that chicken plucked and dunked in some icewater!

I know the feeling it it wasn't a cornishx. They seem like more of a mutant chicken than a chicken to me. Was it a Delaware? How did you dispatch it?

yes is was delaware.....he was too small and had a bad comb and i couldnt even give him away so i figured why not.....also i used loppers

Im sorry all I can visualize right now is you at the computer with feathers and stickiness all over your fingers asking for adivse on this matter..LOL Its not fun and Im sorry to chuckle but thought I should add a little humor.

I dont pluck I just remove breasts and legs and discard the rest. I dont even get blood on me-its that simple..Of course FIL does the actual "chop" I do the rest.

lol...well your imagination was right haha......ya i guess the water temp was off.....what do i do now? i wanted to stuff him with stuffing and eat him that way i didnt want to cut him up

Not much you can really do other than basically pick a few feathers at once... that said, how old was he? If more than a year, he might need slow roasting methods. Don't forget to let him rest in the fridge for a few days to let the muscle relax if you aren't used to eating "tough" birds.
