I just lost all 4 of my chickens!

Fodder is when you sprout grains to about 4 inches tall in a container with no dirt and feed the entire sod to the chickens. Sprouted grains and fodder makes more of the grain digestible, therefore you feed less and its very healthy for the critters. It only takes about 6-8 days to grow out so that would be how many days you would have to start new containers to have fodder every day. There's a mountain of knowledge here on the subject. Just search "Fodder."

Thanks everyone! There's a ray of sunshine peeping through. Pun intended!

No - never found my four ladies.

But, a kind lady two hours away -kimberly35042 - is selling me 8(!) just hatching Blue Orpington peepers. They are brooder run chicks so it's pot luck as to what I am getting as far as gender goes. I so loved my Buff Orpingtons that I decided I didn't want any other breed of bird.

I'm now thinking about ad-ons and modifications to the coop to hold them and ensure their safety as I won't be letting them out this time. I need to add a separate nest area and improve the dig-in security.
