'tis Sage(blue swed) and Maude(pekin) co-brooding who can say AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!?

this is Sages first attempt at brooding, and only like, 2 of the 5, 3 week along eggs are hers LOL, theres a runner egg, and two of maudes eggs.

Maude is sitting on one of her eggs , and Bless her little thieving soul, Jumper who had literally ust started to lay a week prior, thought it'd be a good idea to add some of her own eggs, 3 of the original 5 had little moving embryos

, I really did NOT want any babies from her this year, cause next year all the mallards will be seperate from the other ducks, but I didn't have the heart to kill the little things, plus they're right along with maudes egg, about a week 2 days ago,but they're so LITTLE(the eggs that is, are call duck egg sized) I don't know how big them babies would be!.

I'm hoping a prayng Maude will stay the nest once Sages eggs hatch, she's been the most defensive of the nest LOL.

When my buff is broody all four of her daughters ( 2 months ) and even the drakes try to get in the coop with her! I can never get close enough to get a good pic though. Stinky duckies dont like me

These are as close as I could get - She can never hide her eggs from me MWAHHAHA! She thought she would brood on some plastic eggs . There are five ducks total in the kennel. Including Astro on the ramp.

co-brooding seems to be the thinkg around here LOL, my muscovy and runners have co-brooded, the runners, and the finally Rosilee the muscovy gave up on the last egg, a muscovy egg, the other day. there was a little inch long baby in it that had died

and now Sage and Maude are at it..

in the chickens, Stella the blue cochin refuses to sit on eggs you try to give her, because she's ACTING like she's broody, but I cought her on "momma hen"'s nest today, and thought "here we go" Momma hen was off her nest for HOURS, but Stella kept them nice a warm, then when Momma hen went back finally, Stella stepped aside and let her take over, it was cute.
