I've recently been trying to make my own chicken feed however where I live, Long Island, NY, I cannot for the life of me find 70% of the ingredients. Fish meal, Whole Wheat, Dried Peas, Kelp, Nutri balancer are non existent in my area. What do you suggest I do? Stay with Purina Layer Pellets? I'm going a bit nuts trying to find these items but really want to make my own feed. Any help would be appreciated!

quit trying to re-invent the wheel.
most of the chicken feeds on the market were already thought out.
use them.

If you feel you must make your own.
GET A RECIPE !!
then go ahead.

You can buy any of the products you listed on Amazon.

Making your own doesn't necessarily mean you are going to do it cheaper.

You can make a decent mixture by using just whole grains.
there are charts listing the protein in each grain.
I use a 50/50 finely ground mix of corn and oats for every situation here on my farm..
I even start day old chicks out with it..
