However strong they were when she started, they'll be weaker now (this happens naturally and progressively during incubation), and if they weren't very good to begin with, they may be breaking accidentally, and then she's eating whatever spills to clear it up and try to prevent the rest of the clutch getting compromised.

Haha yeah. I’ve thought about putting a game camera out there to monitor my chickens while I’m away or when I’m not out there, but they’re just so expensive!

You don't have to go the route of a game camera. If you have good internet, you can get a wireless camera for pretty cheap - under $35 - you can even get one that rotates for less than $50. You do have to have electricity to your coop though.

I kept finding broken eggs and missing eggs and I’m 99% sure the culprit is rats. I actually just put my ring doorbell out there lol it’s not hardwired so I just took it off to charge it and put it out there

I have a broody who tried to brood for a long time but I was trying to break her broodyness bc she wouldn’t sit anywhere but the favorite box - finally I gave up and let her sit - she’s been doing great for about two weeks - I went in this morning and she was eating an egg- not sure what to do now.
