I went to the city today with my mother to help her get a new door but they didn't have the one she wanted at Lowes so she says the one thing I can't resist. "Do you care if we go to Buchheits?"

Of course thats like asking a kid if they want to go to the toy store. While she was looking around the store I went to look at the chicks. I thought to myself I'll just take a look at the cute babies. I can resist buying more. Well I got back there and there were signs saying it was "Chick Day" and they were giving free chicks to kids and the other chicks were at a discount. Of course there was a crowd of people around and I wandered along looking at them when all of a sudden a guy comes up and says the horrible words "Can I help you?" Before I even think about what I am doing I start saying I want one of those, two of those...etc. Now I came home with three Americana chicks and two Black Star chicks. I was just supposed to get a door! Oh well I guess 27 chicks isn't too much.

Here's pics of each none of them have names yet. The Americanas are about 2-3 days old but the Black Stars are about two weeks old.
Sorry some are a bit blurry.

I know I shouldn't but I am. Soon I am going to process some older hens and get some new chicks. I'll be sad to see the old girls go but they aren't laying well any more and I'm in the egg business. I'm going to wait until the weather gets a little warmer.

Cute Easter Eggers - I'd worry on that one with the curled looking toes though. (or is it just the way it is standing?) I'm glad I don't have the addiction for feedstore chicks. I do, however, have an addiction for SQ hatching eggs. . .

I think I will be putting eggs in the bator!

I Really have to laugh here, 'cause I never thought I'd see the day that we had 27 chickens... LOL that was last year. This year we are going to be in the 40's I think... let me add... yeah, 46 after all is said and done. Though, some of the chicks I may sell off and two of the roos will probably end up going to freezer camp this year. LOL - Just you wait, you'll get there too - probably sooner than you think!!

Buccheits? Hmm. Thats not a world wide store line I believe. it's only in my area. You wouldn't happen to be from Southern IL or MO would you.
