I know Cornish x is good, what about Cornish roasters?

Anyone ever try the Cornish Roaster? I am ready to order meat chickens, and was wondering if anyone has tried the roasters? They are supposed to not have as many leg problems, they take about 12 weeks to finish. Just wondering...or is Cornish x's the way to go?

Thanks.

If you are ordering from MM, why not just get the BBQ Special? It is cheaper than specifying Cornish Roasters or Jumbo Cornish. It may be one or the other or a mixture of both. If you feed broiler or turkey food, put out feed for 12 hours and take it away for 12, and put Broiler Booster in the water, you shouldn't have much trouble with either the Roasters or the Jumbo cornish.

I've got Cornish Roasters right now. This is my first time raising them and they're only 2 weeks old so I can't say how they'll end up. However, they're growing like crazy! I called MM and asked on this forum and the consensus was to restrict feed just like with the Cornish x, so I'm not sure that you'd avoid leg problems using this breed (without precautions).
They aren't very smelly which is a good thing as we have 26 in the house. I don't know how they'd compare to the Cornish x.
I agree with Cassie, it may be a good bet to get the barbecue special, then you can see which breed you like best.
If you're not ordering them right away, I can give you an update on how long it took them to get to butchering weight, health issues etc. when mine finish up...

Thanks, that'd be great. I won't be doing meatys until closer to June. My layers are coming first. I saw some cornish x's at TSC, they were only a few weeks old, and already growing like crazy. I read another post on here about certain feeds possibly making them stinkier than others......this is all new to me, so this forum is a great help!
