I know I'm mad but....whistling?

I'm pretty sure one of our ducklings is whistling, I noticed it about a week ago they are around 5 weeks maybe 6 I need to check the calendar.
Anyway....so I bring them out in the morning they go into their run for part of the day and free range for a couple of hours in the afternoon and evening.
In the morning after I bring them out I always come back out to make sure they are settled and lately half way done the garden I hear a whistle. First time I stood around looking trying to see if the neighbours were out but nothing, same again the second time, third...you get the picture.
Today I walk down the garden and I see Lotus our suspected boy on the pool side and I'm pretty sure he whistled! Is it Lotus whistling after all? Do ducks whistle? Is it just boys or is it a universal thing?
I'm really hoping so or we have some weird neighbours

Part of a drake's vocalizations can include a whistling like sound. It's not your weird neighbors. At least I don't think it is.

Thank goodness we haven't lived here long and I really don't want the neighbours to be whistling at me

How fascinating though I'd never heard of this!

Is this a way to sex them too?

I just came across this post. All of my ducks that could whistle turned out to be males so for me it was a way to sex them. It didn't matter if it were my Mallards or Khaki Campbell, they were boys. Whenever I would hear it my heart would sink as I knew I had another Drake.

Ah I'm torn with regards to this, the drakes for us would have been better to have a bachelor group. Our girls are causing problems with their noise

I totally get that with the noise situation. I am so lucky to have wonderful neighbors. I eat the eggs daily and they have improved my health. My drakes over mated my hens and my Muscovy even mated my Mallard drake and almost killed him when I put them together. That is why I rehomed them and got smaller drakes. I am glad that your bachelor group works out well for you.
