This is my first time owning ducks. And I know I read of the drake curl. I have 2 ducks and what I was sure one was about and one a girl (the one got the curl ages ago they are 13 weeks now) but this morning I come out and now what I thought was a girl now has a curl 😭 and I'm wondering if it can be a fluke.

One is a buff the other is an indian runner so cant really compare the two. They are pretty inseparable so if they are both boys since I have chickens, I dread having to get rid of them.

Idk about girl ducks and the curl, BUT, if they get continue to get along the way you say, you can absolutely keep them, you only need to house them separately from your chickens via a new pen. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, a hoop coop and some chicken wire dividing the hens part of the yard from the ducks during the day could work great. Don't grieve prematurely, it could absolutely work out fine for everybody

I agree with @Kentuckiana Chicken Lady recommendation. Drakes can be together and it be fine. Just a little separation needed. I have 23 ducks and I have never seen my females developed a curl. Usually the curl is the sign of a drake no getting around that. If they are getting along all will be well. Some ducks just take longer to develop than others. For a while at 1 point I thought I had 5 female ducks but about 2-3 months in the true features started to show and ended up being 4 drakes and 1 female...lol

Is there a possibility of them maybe getting along with the female chickens as they grew up with them and actually like all being together? Or just too risky

(They have a separate coop but atm they are all in the same yard space)

And I know the bill color from what I read is a bad indicator but one does have a bright yellow while the other is more of a Grey dullish color.

I know I'm trying to hold on to false hope.
