We got these chickens from a kindergarten class. They were told they were hens. I don't know what kind they are, breed, or how old. Just judging by other pictures I am starting to think one or both might be roosters. My children are getting very attached to them and I was wondering if anyone can tell if they are roosters or hens, what kind, and how old. Thank you very much.

The red one looks like a rhode island red and the black and white one a silver laced wyandotte. I think they both look like cockerels. Can anyone confirm?? I'm a newbie too.

If the class hatched these chicks, there is no way they could know which eggs had hens inside and which had roosters. That's just not how it works. They would have to be vent sexed by someone very experienced on hatch day. The red one looks like a Production Red, and the black and white is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. They are both cockerels. The combs are too pink, too early to be girls.
