I know nothing about these chicks

I think they’re a mix of maybe a Sussex and Rhode Island Red they have some characteristics of a Sussex in the wing feathers and the white chest and bellies but they have dark heads
I’d wait until they get older around 6 months then you should be able to tell for sure what they are

They're from a feed store, so that's not possible.

Thank you all for the input!!!

And actually, they aren’t from a feed store, so they very well could be a mix.

Hello! I bought two chicks just about 2 weeks ago. They seem to have awfully red combs for young chicks. They were sold to me as ameraucanas but I’m very much doubting that now. I’m guessing they’re about 3-4 weeks old. any guesses on the breed and possibly gender?

Thank you for this question. I have two 4 week old mix breed chicks and am anxious to know if they are males. I think mine are hens.

Easter Eggers, or ameraucaunas (as stores market them) are the same thing. Not all EEs have muffs or beards since they're just mutts that lay a green, blue, or pink egg. I've had several EEs that had no muffs or beards. OP's birds are two EE cockerels.

Ameraucana is a breed of chickens. They are not mutts, and they are NOT Easter Eggers, which are mutts. Many stores market EEs as Americanas which is not the same as Ameraucanas. All Ameraucanas have beards, muffs and pea combs and lay blue eggs.

Yes, I know they are a true breed. Stores still market them as pure Ameraucaunas though. Or at least the one here does.
