I know this has been asked a MILLION times but...Scaly Leg Mites?

Can you use Ivermectin to kill them? A friend who has chickens was asking me b/c she has way too many to be smearing Vaseline all over them every other day...it would take her all day! Just wondering if there's anything that can be used on a larger scale.

This is what a mild case of scaly leg mites looks like ~

I treated it with tea tree oil, and then rubbed vasoline on their legs afterword, to sort of seal it in. I retreated in 10 days time. It worked very well, & I have not seen a recurrence of it since. Of course, I also cleaned their habitat thoroughly, before returning them to it, so that they would not be re-infected.

This photo is an extreme, untreated case, right? In the beginning the scaly legs are slight, correct? Is it that the scales on the chicken's legs become hard and start to bulge ever so slightly? Apparently it itches, too, correct?

Does anyone manage to irradicate these mites completely?
