I know this is not the right place to put this but it might give me the info I am looking for.

Do you think that I copy my sentence to much? I always answer the question down below.

It doesn't bother me personally. I did see one complaint from someone on one of the threads (I don't remember for sure where, but I think it was in Random Ramblings), about people copying whole quotes and posting them when they only need to post a portion of the quote. Since I read that, I've been more careful about posting only the part of the quote to which I'm replying.

Hi my fellow greeters!

I love greeting people but I am wondering how do you get a greeter award? Is there a certain amount of posts you have to do?

Thanks!

Great question!

The first step in receiving any award is to be nominated.

To quote from that thread,

To go further, we look for sincere greets, not a copy/paste of the same few words and/or picture over and over. We want our new members to feel truly welcome with sincere heartfelt greetings.

Once someone is nominated, we look at membership length, frequency of posts, infractions, quality of posts. Yes we really do look at every single member who is nominated for an award! A couple of things that will stop consideration are posting just to post (the copy/paste) and what we call "campaigns" where someone will ask their friends to nominate them just because they want an award. We are pretty good at spotting these situations. Especially obvious are those times when we have gotten 10-20 nominations for the same person in the same day, often within the same couple of hours.

FYI, a greeter award is hard to get revoked. In fact I don't think we have taken a greeter award away ever. If someone has excessive infractions, we may consider it. We don't really go looking for awards to take away because someone stopped greeting, though we may look into it if it is brought to our attention. We just don't have time for that!

Hope that helps you understand how we award the greeter badges!
