Still thats a yearling indiablue peacock(male) Tell the sex by all color in the neck.
Another way to sex him is all the barring of the shoulder feathers, which you can see at 3 months.

Peacocks here lose their trains july and aug. regrow them over winter. The bird will have a short train next spring, 2011 he will have the long train.

I,m glad I came across your post! I have the same questions about mine. But I know for sure mine is a male, he courts the turkey that I have. LOL He dont have a tail yet but he shows off what he has. He was given to me and I kept him up for a month and now he freeranges. He goes into the chicken coop sometmes but mostly on top of it or the trees.

Hello!

You have a yearling male indian blue!! He is pretty!!

The tail begins the second year - but you will only get a few 'eyes'. The third year is when they really flaunt their stuff!!

My 24 hour free range male has lost his tail, but he was very fertile at 3 years, I had 9 eggs - 5 are hatched 3 in the bator, only one didn't hatch because it had too high humidity
