I live in Michigan just shy of the 45th parallel, and winters drop into the minus 20s. I have a barred rock roo and even with a heat lamp in the coop, he still got the tips of his comb frozen off. I am switching to rose and pea comb birds. Right now I have buckeyes, gold laced wyandottes and silver laced wyandottes.
